Advancing corrosion safety assessment for concrete structures in NPPs

Through our EU-funded research, ZAG Slovenija and Laborelec identified two effective non-destructive corrosion testing techniques (NDTs) – Pulsed Eddy Current and half-cell Potential Mapping. These portable and cost-effective NDTs enable early detection of steel liner corrosion inside steel cylinder concrete pipes (SCCPs). To automate the inspection process, CEA developed a robotic platform with a manipulator, specifically designed for corrosion NDTs inside SCCPs.

Stay tuned for our upcoming case study demonstration in August 2023, where we’ll showcase the effectiveness of our automated measurement protocol.
