Diederik Jacques (PhD in Bio-engineering) has joined SCK•CEN in 2000 in 2000 as a postdoctoralstudent on the development of a coupled reactive transport code (HYDRUS-PHREEQC). After his postdoc,he worked in the Performance Assessment unit as a numerical modeller combining his previous expertise on flow and transport phenomena in porous media with newly developed skills on geochemistry. Throughout a number of national and international EU projects, he worked on applications in degradation of cementitious materials, flow and transport in porous media, geochemical evolution of these systems and flow and transport including colloids in soil systems. He is involved in model development both at pore- and continuum-scale.
In 2011, he became the group leader of the unit now called Engineered and Geosystem Analysis of the Waste&Disposal expert group. Management skills are developed as group and project leader (e.g., cAt project for surface disposal of low level and intermediate level short-lived radioactive waste in Belgium, WP leader in the EU-EURAD project). He author and co-authored more than 100+ publications listed in SCOPUS.
