ACES finished the state of the art report on the knowledge of the quantitative assessment of ageing of concrete in nuclear power plants. The report provides general guidance on ageing management of concrete structures in nuclear power plants based on international recommendations and a concise description of different concrete degradation and ageing processes.
The report is written for junior and senior (project) engineers in field of long-term operations of concrete structures and for junior R&D engineers and researches. The report specifically highlights aspects relevant for the reinforced concrete structures which was missing to a given extent in the international literature. A concise description of 19 degradation processes is given with a systematic overview of the process, influential factors, synergetic effects, rates, assessment methods and model approaches. If available, performance indicators and acceptance criteria are given as well.
This document serves as an solid basis, augmented with more than 600 references, for understanding and managing ageing processes in reinforced concrete structures.
